About Us

Our
Story

Founded in 1947, the Singapore Booksellers and Stationers Association (SBASA) has been uniting booksellers and stationers for more than seven decades. From its earliest days, SBASA has worked to raise the level of culture in society by supporting Singapore’s book and stationery trade.
As the world has moved into the 21st century of globalisation and digital transformation, SBASA continues to evolve. We leverage on new opportunities brought by the global economy and information society, while staying true to our roots in community, education, and industry support.
Today, SBASA proudly serves as the Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Stationery Alliance (APSA), representing Singapore on the regional stage. Each year, we organise overseas business missions and take part in local and international exhibitions — building bridges, fostering professional cooperation, and expanding markets for our members.
Through these efforts, SBASA remains committed to helping booksellers and stationers in Singapore connect, grow, and thrive in the global marketplace.

Our logo is an abstract representation of a seagull in flight, seeking the shoals of fish. It expresses the aspiration of our industry to reach out beyond the shores of this island in quest of business opportunities.
-
SBASA, The Singapore Bookseller and Stationers Association, the acronym for our Association’s name, is in clean and unembellished letters, signifying our determination to keep pace with the rapid advancements and constant changes in this digital age.
-
The logo thus joins together emotional and rational elements, representing the essence of our profession through its simple yet powerful aesthetic grounded on a rational foundation to open the door to ever-wider prospects
